Expressions of Interest – Sand Sculpture Event

Expressions of Interest – Sand Sculpture Event

Waratah-Wynyard Council is seeking expressions of interest from community groups to host a Sand Sculpture Event. This exciting event has the capacity to bring the community together, celebrate our unique environment, and provide a play-based learning experience for individuals, groups and families.

The Waratah-Wynyard region has strong community support for local events that highlight place, space, and environment. One feature of our region’s environment is the diverse and unique geology of its surroundings, which is a huge focus for local tourism.

Important dates:

  • Applications are now open,
  • Applications close Friday 22 September 2023,
  • Event to be held by April 2024.

Event information:

The main feature of this community event is the sand sculpting competition, which should take place at a designated time taking into consideration the tide. Event organisers might consider including other event elements such as a beach bonfire, food vans and other entertainment. The Sand Sculpture Event should work in harmony with and be sensitive to the surrounding environment and site.

How to submit an EOI:

Submit all EOIs by Friday 22nd September via email to bfolden@warwyn.tas,gov.au, and include the following details:

  • Who will host the event,
  • What will happen at the event,
  • When the event will occur (including times),
  • Where the event will be held.

*Artists are encouraged to discuss their EOIs with the Manager Community Activation before submission.
