Would your business or organisation like to sponsor the Wynyard Tulip Festival in 2024?

The Waratah-Wynyard community were blown away by the instant return to popularity of the Tulip Festival post covid – visitors to the area skyrocketed in 2022 and 2023, with people travelling to attend the event from all over the state and country.

The success of the Tulip Festival is built on the ownership of the people who live, play and work here. The festival has become part of the Wynyard identity. Novel and free activities for families crank up the joy factor, artisans and craft folk enjoy the opportunity to perform and share their original wares and lower Goldie Street becomes a foodie haven. Games, rides and rich raffles delight, and friends connect on the riverbank and dance as the live music kicks into the evening and fireworks light up the sky over town. Each year the event evolves, shaped by the people who take part in it.

For over 30 years, the Tulip Festival thrives on the continued support of community, sponsors, and visitors.

In 1991, the Wynyard Tourism and Promotion Association ran the first Tulip Festival in Wynyard, offering a weekend of entertainment, stalls and attractions to promote the area and attract visitors to our town and the North West Coast. From the outset, Wynyard was labeled by news reporters as “Tulip Town” and this has become somewhat of a continuing connection.

By 1997 the Wynyard Tulip Festival had formed a committee in its own right and had taken on an incorporated status, which in 2005 a Special Committee of the Waratah-Wynyard Council. The Festival is now coordinated by the Waratah-Wynyard Council.

In 2020, the Tulip Festival was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To continue annual celebrations but still abide by gathering restrictions and physical distancing requirement, the Waratah-Wynyard Council created The Spring Loaded Program, a month of fun that was comprised of smaller events for the community to enjoy.

With the return of the Wynyard Tulip Festival in 2022 and the success of The Spring Loaded Program over the previous two years, Council decided to run both events concurrently for the first time in October 2022.
