The State Government has implemented smoke-free areas across Tasmania.
- People are required to comply with the smoke free area provisions;
- Council is responsible for its facilities such as sporting grounds, swimming pools, public buildings and playgrounds;
- Council does not police this law at private facilities such as hotels. Enforcement is handled by the State Government, which has appointed officers to oversee this requirement. To report a breach in these areas contact the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738.
Event organisers are required to complete a Smoke Free Management Plan (Public Events) for any events that are completely smoke free or that have designated smoking areas.
