DPAC seeks feedback on Dog Control Act Amendments
The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC) is requesting public submissions on the Draft Dog Control Act 2000 Amendments.
The Dog Control Act 2000 provides the legislative framework for the management of dogs in Tasmania. It primarily empowers the general managers of councils to enforce the provisions of the Act.
In October 2013 the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s Local Government Division released an issues paper seeking comment on a number of proposed amendments to the Dog Control Act 2000 (the Act).
The consultation supported a number of proposed amendments to the Act which have been included in the Draft Dog Control Amendment Bill 2017.
Comments are also sought on changes to the Act that would allow authorised officers to take DNA samples from attacking dogs.
Comments on the draft Bill can be sent to Greg Brown, Deputy Director, Local Government Division, Department of Premier and Cabinet, by 7 April 2017. Your comments can be either emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to: Local Government Division, Department of Premier and Cabintet, GPO Box 123, HOBART TAS 7001.
