Health & Wellbeing Programs

The majority of participation programs in our community are offered by individual community sport and recreation groups, however Council is involved in the following programs:

Try Skills

This program is aligned with Term 1 school holidays and promotes junior participation in sport and recreation by connecting students from Grades 5, 6 and 7 with local sport and recreation clubs, arts, cultural and other community groups in the municipality. Participants are given the opportunity to try new sports and activities, have fun and meet new friends.

Walking Wynyard

Walking Wynyard is an annual organised walk clockwise from Richard Gutteridge Gardens around the Inglis River walking track. This track is approximately 9km for the full circuit.

The event is held on the third Sunday of November each year, with prizes and afternoon tea provided. This non-competitive free event is open to all ages and aims to encourage fitness and enjoyment of our beautiful natural environment.

Learn to Swim

Council offers a 10 day intensive Learn to Swim program at the Wynyard Fitness indoor heated pool. The course is conducted by qualified AUSTSWIM Instructors using the RLSS Swim and Survive Program.

For further details on any of these programs contact council [1].
