Easter Closures

The Waratah-Wynyard Council Office will be closed Friday, 15 April and will re-open Wednesday, 20 April, at 8.30am.

Warawyn Early Learning will be closed Friday, 15 April and will re-open Tuesday, 26 April, at 7.00am.


ANZAC Day Services

On 25 April there will be ANZAC DAY services held across the Waratah-Wynyard municipality.


Spanish Heath Blitz

Spanish heath is familiar to many Tasmanians as a highly invasive weed. In the north-west coast it is becoming increasingly prevalent and spreading at an alarming speed. Spanish Heath is often confused with native species due to the remarkable similarities it has with our own native heath species.

Thanks to the State Government Weed Action Fund, we have a unique chance to stop this invasive weed before it gets out of control and impossible to eradicate.


Cam River Reserve Upgrades

Council advises that the barbeque area at the Cam River Reserve will be unavailable for use from Monday 28 March due to new concrete and shelter upgrades.

Ballad Avenue Recreation Reserve

The community are invited to have their say on a concept plan to develop a public recreation space which includes an off-leash dog park and fully self-contained freedom camping site in Ballad Avenue, Wynyard.


Energy Saver Grants Program extended until end of financial year

Applications for the Waratah-Wynyard Council’s Energy Saver Grants Program will now be
extended until the end of the financial year. The Program offers non-for-profit community
organisations in the Waratah-Wynyard municipality the opportunity to apply for a 50% co-contribution toward energy saving initiatives to help combat climate change.


Women In Trades Bursary

Females currently enrolled as a trainee or apprentice in a non-traditional field, or currently working in a non-traditional role, who live in the Waratah-Wynyard municipality are able to apply for the $500 International Women’s Day Women In Trades Bursary.


Australia Day Awards Winners

Congratulations to Dr. James Berryman (Citizen of the Year) and Tiarna West (Young Citizen of the Year) for their outstanding contributions to the Waratah-Wynyard municipality and the greater community.

Christmas Lights Competition

The Lions Club of Wynyard and Waratah-Wynyard Council encourage the community to get involved in creating some new Christmas fun.

While there is not a Christmas parade in 2021, business owners, community groups and residents can still create magic by putting up Christmas lights and decorations.
