Sisters Beach Foreshore Management Plan

Overview

The Sisters Beach Foreshore Management Plan has been released by the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) in partnership with Waratah-Wynyard Council. It provides a clear strategy to protect and manage the Sisters Beach coastline while preserving its natural character and respecting ecological, cultural, and social values.

PWS, as the primary custodian of the land, and Council, responsible for community assets and engagement, commissioned technical consultants Alluvium Consulting to develop the plan. It combines local knowledge, scientific evidence, and expert analysis to balance protection, access, and adaptation along the coastline.

The Plan

Community Information Sessions

Community involvement is central to the success of the plan. PWS and Council will host information session/s to share details and provide opportunities for residents to learn more about the plan.

Details about the sessions will be provided at a later date. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to read the plan and note any questions in preparation for the information session/s.

Foreshore Management Working Group

To put the plan into action, Council will establish the Sisters Beach Foreshore Management Working Group, which will include community and councillor representatives, Council staff, and other stakeholders as needed. The group will provide advice and recommendations to guide Council-led actions from the foreshore management plan.

Expressions of interest from community members will be invited soon, and an application form will be provided at that time.
