Langley Park Redevelopment Underway as Part of Somerset Sporting Precinct (SoSP) Master Plan
Construction is officially underway on the Langley Park Redevelopment, marking another milestone in the delivery of the Somerset Sporting Precinct (SoSP) Master Plan.
The redevelopment will provide upgraded facilities for local sporting clubs, volunteers and the wider community, improving the functionality, accessibility and long-term use of the precinct.
The project is progressing well and remains on track for completion in late November (weather dependent).
Progress to Date
- Demolition of sections of the existing main building
- Footings, concrete and blockwork in key areas
- Structural framing around the timekeepers’ box, canteen, storage and umpires’ rooms
- Finalisation and ordering of windows, doors and the new grandstand
Design Refinements
As construction has progressed, several refinements have been made to ensure the upgraded facilities best meet operational requirements. These include:
- A redesigned foyer layout to better accommodate floor height requirements.
- Adjustments to the placement of timber battens and fire exit arrangements, including changes around the stairwell windows.
- Installation of Colourbond flashings to neatly conceal external pipework.
- Replacement of the hot water system.
- Minor changes to window heights and the canteen service window to suit structural and weight requirements.
- Integration of irrigation infrastructure with the new timekeepers’ box.
- Finalisation of the building colour palette, including Dune Colourbond doors, white feature doors and door frames, and Glacier vinyl bifold doors.
What’s Next?
Over the coming weeks, works will continue with:
- Construction of the new foyer and elevator shaft
- Concrete works for the new showers and toilets, weather permitting
- Ongoing internal construction to help keep the project on schedule
