Langley Park Building Upgrades
A sub-project of the Somerset Sports Precinct Master Plan
Council is delivering a major upgrade to the pavilion and supporting amenities at Langley Park, Somerset, to create a modern, inclusive and welcoming facility that will serve local sporting clubs and the broader community for decades to come.
Overview
Langley Park is a valued sporting site on the Somerset foreshore and home to Somerset Football Club and Somerset Strikers Cricket Club. It has been identified as a priority location for upgrades through the Somerset Sports Precinct Master Plan.
The existing pavilion was built in the 1980s and has not been significantly updated since. It no longer meets contemporary expectations for accessibility, inclusion or comfort – particularly for female players, umpires, junior participants and spectators with mobility needs.
The Langley Park Building Upgrades project will refurbish the existing pavilion and deliver new and improved amenities so that the facility better supports current users and the anticipated growth in junior and female participation over coming seasons.
Project scope
The project will deliver:
- Refurbishment of the existing pavilion building to meet modern standards and DDA requirements (inc. installation of lift)
- Upgraded player and umpire changerooms featuring fully enclosed individual cubicles, providing privacy and a welcoming, inclusive space for all users.
- Accessible amenities and public toilets
- Upgrades to the canteen / kiosk area
- Hardstand areas and improved spectator seating
Current Status
Construction commenced 13 April 2026.
Temporary amenities are now in place and the site is active. Parts of Langley Park are fenced off as active building zones – please stay clear of these areas and follow all on-site signage and fencing for your safety.
Club members and players should follow their club’s Facebook page for the latest updates on training, game day arrangements and any changes to local matches during the construction period:
