Overview
In August, Council adopted the Community Wellbeing Plan 2025–30—a five-year roadmap to strengthen health, inclusion, connectedness, and resilience across our community.
Grounded in the social determinants of health, the plan recognises that wellbeing is shaped not only by services, but also by the places we live, the opportunities available, and the relationships we build.
This framework will guide Council in making informed, place-based decisions, fostering collaboration, and delivering initiatives with lasting impact. Its core principles—collaboration, equity, innovation, and outcome-focused planning—ensure small, consistent steps lead to meaningful improvements for as many people as possible.
Our vision is clear: to ensure Waratah-Wynyard remains a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient community at every stage of life.
Our updated roadmap
The draft Plan is built around five strategic themes that emerged from community workshops and stakeholder meetings:
- Healthy & Well – Supporting physical, mental and social health for all ages.
- Connected & Active – Creating opportunities to meet, volunteer and stay active together.
- Safe Families & Communities – Strengthening respectful relationships, public safety and emergency readiness.
- Vibrant & Inclusive – Celebrating diversity, reducing disadvantage and showcasing local identity.
- Skills for Life – Promoting lifelong learning, literacy, training and job-readiness.
