Parks & Reserves Employee

Position:

Do you enjoy working outdoors and making a visible difference in your community? Waratah-Wynyard Council is seeking a motivated and hands-on Parks & Reserves Employee to help keep our beautiful region looking its best!

As part of our dedicated Parks & Reserves team, you’ll contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of parks, gardens, sportsgrounds, cemeteries, and natural reserves across the municipality. This is a practical, outdoors-based role perfect for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a supportive team.

This is a permanent full-time position working 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight.

Key Duties

  • Mowing, pruning, planting, and general gardening
  • Maintaining playgrounds, street furniture, and public amenities
  • Assisting with irrigation systems and weed/pest control
  • General maintenance tasks
  • Operating tools, equipment and machinery safely and effectively

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Horticulture and/or equivalent experience in horticultural practices.
  • Current driver’s licence (essential); MR or HR licence (desirable)
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery and small equipment.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Demonstrated safe work behaviours.
