Tulip Festival wins at Australian Event Awards

22 November 2018

The Wynyard Tulip Festival has been recognised on a national level at the 2018 Australian Event Awards and Symposium.

The 2017 festival won the state category for Best Regional Event at the awards night, held on the Sunshine Coast last night.

The Australian Event Awards and Symposium is the national awards program and conference for the Australian events industry, fostering continued excellence, innovation and unity.

Waratah-Wynyard Council’s Tulip Festival Project Officer Chantelle French said it was an exciting moment when the festival was announced as the winner.

“For such a little place in Tassie it was nice to be recognised,” she said,

“We were the only event from Tasmania in that category, so it was great not only to represent Tasmania, but also to win.”

Ms French said the win was a very proud moment and thanked all those that support the festival each year.

“The festival is something we do for the community that everyone loves and it seems to be getting bigger each year, but it’s not just me, I have a great team of people that come and help every year and without them it wouldn’t happen,” she said.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors and everyone that comes along and supports the festival each year, otherwise it wouldn’t be where it is today.”
