Waratah-Wynyard Council Welcomes Interim Chief Executive Officer Gary Arnold

Waratah-Wynyard Council is pleased to welcome Mr Gary Arnold as its Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Arnold commenced with Council on 15 July 2026, following the retirement of former Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Adams, whose final day with Council was 17 July 2026. He is expected to remain in the role until the end of February 2027, pending the appointment of a permanent Chief Executive Officer.

During Ms Adams’ tenure, she led the organisation through a number of significant strategic projects and initiatives, leaving Council in a strong position. Council thanks Ms Adams for her contribution and wishes her every success in the future.

Mayor Dr Mary Duniam welcomed Mr Arnold to the organisation and said his extensive local government experience would provide strong leadership during this important transition.

“Gary’s extensive experience in local government leadership makes him well placed to guide Council through the coming months. On behalf of Council, I warmly welcome Gary to the Waratah-Wynyard community and look forward to working with him.”

Mr Arnold brings extensive local government experience to the role, including 10 years as General Manager at Kingborough Council. During his tenure with Waratah-Wynyard Council, he will focus on ensuring Council operations continue to run efficiently and effectively while supporting preparations for the upcoming Local Government Election and the induction of the new Council.
