Upgraded car park to complement Woolworths

A resealed and upgraded car park will soon complement the $4.5 million revamp to the Wynyard Woolworths store as works start on Monday, October 14.

The car park surface will be completely resealed, new shopping trolley bays installed, three access ramps will be put it as well as new garden beds.

The configuration of car parking will also change from its current north-south orientation to east-west and new line markings will be applied.

As the car park will be upgraded one section at a time over four sections, parking will still be available but slightly reduced during the life of the project.

Mayor Walsh said that while there will be some necessary disruptions to parking and store access during the project, the community welcomes the much-needed upgrade.

“Customers will still be able to use the car park, but spaces will be reduced while Council staff are working on the upgrades,” Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Robby Walsh said.

While Council owns the land, the work is part of an agreement with Woolworths to upgrade the whole area.

Mayor Walsh said the project was positive news for local shoppers, but more significantly demonstrated a long-term commitment by a multi-national company to the future growth of the area.

The project is due to be completed by November 15.
