Somerset projects get green light after Federal funding announcement

Somerset is a big winner from recent funding announcements under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

Two successful applications by Waratah-Wynyard Council under the Australian Government Grant will fund car parking upgrades to support the proposed Anzac Park All-Ability Playground (grant of $101,185), and pedestrian access across Murchison Highway ($34,055).

The exciting new Anzac Park all-inclusive nature play space is designed to be accessed by a range of age groups and abilities and will become a destination drawcard for Somerset. Detailed plans for the playground are currently being developed. The LRCI grant will upgrade the current car parking that supports this recreation space.

Council will also design and construct a pedestrian refuge across the Murchison Highway to give residents safe access to the Cam River Recreation Reserve. The $34,055 project supports the recently adopted Cam River Master Plan year one action plan.
