Input sought on Settlement Strategy

Input sought on Settlement Strategy

Council has recently started work on a settlement strategy for the towns of the WaratahWynyard municipality.

The settlement strategy is a planning document to set a direction for the development of the towns and villages of the Waratah-Wynyard Council area to ensure they become (even)better places to live and work.

The strategy will consider if the zoning boundaries within towns are correct and may recommend other initiatives and programs to increase the liveability of each of the towns.

“To decide what goes into the strategy we will have to consider existing state and local plans and policies and plans and weigh up many issues,” Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Robby Walsh said.

“How we manage growth, while maintaining what people love about living here, is a key issue for us. Council is committed to ensuring the community has a say in setting those issues and helping to establish how much weight we give to them.”

To ensure Council receives community input we will undertake several rounds of engagement.

To get a sense of how you see your community we have prepared an online survey.

If you would like to have your say please complete the survey by Friday, June 19.

The survey can be found here.
