Regulation of the 2019 Declared Dog Areas and Dog Management Policy commence once signage has been installed.
Installation of the signs along the foreshore from Somerset to Sisters Beach will begin Tuesday, December 8 and is expected to take about two weeks.
In December 2019, Council adopted a Dog Management Policy that removed seasonal expectations, instead replacing it with a “traffic light” system. Beaches will be classified as:
– off-lead dog exercise (green)
– on-lead between 10am-6pm (yellow)
– prohibited (red)
While users become accustomed to the system, Council will take an educative approach to implementing the Policy.
