Council will commence construction on Project 2 – Esplanade to Cemetery of the Inglis River Walking Track from Monday 22 September 2025, with works expected to be completed by mid-November 2025.
This project will deliver important improvements to safety, accessibility and amenity, including:
- A new 2.0 m wide track on higher ground adjacent to The Esplanade with a fine gravel surface.
- Safer pedestrian crossings with kerb ramps and signage at the Table Cape Road / Esplanade intersection.
- A formalised carpark at the end of Austin Street with asphalt sealing of Cemetery Road.
- Removal of old stair structures no longer fit for purpose.
- Native revegetation and habitat improvement along the river corridor.
Nearby residents have been mailed details of the works, including temporary road narrowing and short-term kerbside parking restrictions.
Council is working in partnership with Wynyard Landcare to deliver revegetation and biodiversity outcomes, with a strong focus on protecting habitat for species such as the Azure Kingfisher.
We thank the community for their patience while these important works are carried out. Updates will be provided via Council’s website and social media throughout the construction period.
