[UPDATE – Works will now commence Wednesday 4 Feb 2026 at 8AM]
Works will commence early next week on Project 5 of the Inglis River Walking Track, along Golf Links Road (Wynyard), as Council continues to deliver safety improvements to this popular community walking track.
What to expect:
- Construction activity along Golf Links Road, Wynyard
- Minor traffic delays will occur at times when critical activity requires a part road closure.
- The existing walking track will stay open for use for as long as possible and a change over to the new track will occur at the end of the works. There will be a period of no walking track access around the change over time or to ensure safe operations.
As part of this stage, the walking track will be realigned closer to the road to improve safety, accessibility and long-term resilience in areas affected by flooding and erosion.
Council has been working with local community groups, including Wynyard Landcare, to rehabilitate the riverbanks and natural spaces. This has included local native seedlings as part of Project 2 and at Project 5. Infill and additional plantings will occur at both sites during winter 2026 to complete the habitat restoration objectives.
These works will improve safety, accessibility, protect the river environment and deliver long-term amenity for the community.
Thank you for your patience while works are underway.
