Australia Day 2022 Ambassador

 
 
Council is excited to announce Waratah-Wynyard’s Australia Day 2022 Ambassador, Robert Ravens of Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm.
 
Robert Ravens was born and educated in Sydney, and is a graduate of Sydney University (BA, BSc,) and of the University of NSW (MBA). After 40 years in senior management positions within the chemical industry both in Australia and Asia he retired from his last full time role as CEO of Incitec Industrial Chemicals in 2003. Since then, he has been engaged in chairmanship and mentoring roles in start-up and small business enterprises and purchased Bridestowe Estate in 2007.
Since acquisition, Bridestowe Estate has grown to become one of Tasmania’s most acclaimed small businesses and has been recognised for agricultural and commercial excellence nationally and internationally. Bridestowe Estate’s strategy of “Global Engagement” has helped position Northern Tasmania as a tourism destination and attracts visitors from Northern Europe, The Americas and Asia.
In November 2104, Bridestowe Estate won the inaugural Australia China Business Council Award for Entrepreneurship and influence in China. In April 2015, Bridestowe Estate won acclaim, being presented, in Hong Kong, with the AusCham/Westpac Award for Excellence in Agriculture, Food and Beverages. The business was the winner of Telstra Regional Small Business Award for Tasmania in July 2015 and in August 2015, American Express nominated Bridestowe Estate as one of Australia’s forty most inspiring and engaging small businesses.
In 2016 Bridestowe Estate was the Telstra Tasmanian Business of the Year. In 2020, Webjet customers voted Bridestowe Estate as one of 8 “must visit” destinations in Australia. In 2018, Robert was appointed to the Reserve Bank Small Business Advisory for a three year term.
