At last night’s meeting:
- Council adopted its 2026/27 Annual Plan and Budget, setting a general rate of 4.9% which is one of the lowest on the NW Coast.
- Council voted to write to the Transport Commissioner to seek permission to reduce speed limits on a number of rural roads from 100km/h to 80 km/h and for the speed limit on Inglis St to be reduced so that it is 50 km/h all the way to the Bass Highway.
- Council highlighted the new Community eNewsletter, the first edition of which will be published on Friday and urged the community to sign up.
- Council endorsed Mr Gary Arnold as the Interim CEO commencing late August. Mr Arnold brings a wealth of experience in the Tasmanian Local Government sector, having been CEO of Kingborough Council for 10 years and currently supporting Orange Council (NSW) in an interim role.
