Wynyard, Tasmania — Council is inviting local young people, families and the wider community to attend the free 2026 Youth Week Expo, “Bet on Your Future”, on Wednesday 8 April 2026 at the Wynyard Yacht Club.
The expo will run for school groups from 9:30am to 2pm, followed by a general public session from 3pm to 4pm. Held as part of Youth Week 2026, the event is designed to empower young people with the knowledge, skills and support to make healthy choices around gambling, money, mental health and life.

More than 230 students from Boat Harbour Primary School, Yolla District School and Wynyard High School are expected to attend the school sessions, giving local young people the opportunity to connect directly with services, support organisations and workshop providers in an engaging and practical setting.
Mayor Dr Mary Duniam said the expo was about creating positive opportunities for young people and ensuring they had access to the right support at the right time.
“Council is proud to support initiatives that invest in the wellbeing, confidence and future of our young people,” Mayor Duniam said.
“Bet on Your Future is about giving young people practical information, real-life skills and strong community connections so they can make informed choices and know where to turn for support.”
The expo will feature a wide range of exhibitors, activities and workshop providers, including the Youth Services Expo, JCP Empowering Youth, ASE Youth Workshop and Entombed Escape Rooms, as well as interactive experiences such as a story workshop, STEM workshop, VR experience, art therapy, DJ workshop and mindfulness sessions.
A highlight of the event will be the themed escape room experience, which will give young people a fun and interactive way to explore problem-solving, decision-making and financial literacy concepts. The broader program has been designed to combine education with creativity and participation, ensuring there is something for a wide range of interests.
Mayor Duniam said the strong involvement from local schools highlighted the importance of delivering youth-focused events in the Waratah-Wynyard community.
“With more than 230 students attending during the school sessions, this expo will be a meaningful opportunity to reach young people early, connect them with services and show them the many positive pathways available in our community,” she said.
“This is more than a one-day event, it is a chance for young people to learn something new, build confidence, ask questions and feel supported in a welcoming environment.”
Council encourages families, carers and community members to also attend the afternoon public session and see firsthand the range of services, activities and opportunities available to local young people.
The Youth Week Expo is supported by the Tasmanian Government.
