International Police Appreciation Day—Competition Entry Form

Waratah-Wynyard Council Youth Leaders are engaging with young people in the local community to encourage positive interactions between youth and law enforcement.

The competition consists of capturing the theme – International Police Appreciation Day, held on 7th March 2025, by submitting either:

  • an A3 sized artwork on paper, canvas or digitally.
  • a short poem.

WHO CAN ENTER

  • Contestants must be residents within the Waratah-Wynyard Council Municipality.
  • One (1) entry per person for either option mentioned above.
  • Must be school age youth – up to 24yrs of age. By submitting you agree that you have received permission to enter from your legal parent(s) or guardian(s) if required.
  • Each entry is only eligible to win one (1) prize.
  • Contest runs from Friday, 10 January 2025 to Friday, 21 February 2025.
  • (Submissions close at end of business hours – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 21 February 2025.)

HOW TO ENTER

  • Create either an artwork or a short poem based on the International Police Appreciation Day theme.
  • Eligible entries must include submitting original artwork / poetry directly to Waratah-Wynyard Council between Friday, 10 January 2025 and Friday, 21 February 2025.
  • Fill out the Entry Form completely.

PRIZES

  • First Place Artwork – presented and displayed to Wynyard Police Department on 7th March 2025 in recognition of International Police Appreciation Day.
  • First Place Poetry – presented and displayed to Wynyard Police Department on 7th March 2025 in recognition of International Police Appreciation Day.
  • First Place Artwork and Poetry winner will receive $100 gift voucher. Winners, along with family members, will be invited to an afternoon tea on 7th March 2025 to present artwork and poetry to member(s) of the Wynyard

Winner notifications will be made by phone or email and announced through Waratah Wynyard Council’s social media during the week leading up to Interantional Police Appreciation Day (3-7 March 2025).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Artwork/poetry submitted must be an original work and must not be copied from other artists or authors.
  2. By submitting an artwork or poetry piece, you acknowledge that your original work will be presented to a member(s) of the Wynyard Police Department for display. By submitting your original works for competition purposes, it shall constitute and signify agreement and consent that the Waratah-Wynyard Council may use entry and prize information (including name, image of original work, city and state) in connection with the competition, worldwide, including on the internet, without limitation and without further payment or consideration, except where prohibited by law.
  3. The judging panel will be made up of at least three (3) youth from Waratah-Wynyard Council Youth Leaders program and will consist of at least one (1) Waratah-Wynyard Council member. All decisions of the judges will be final.

ENTRY FORM

Please complete and submit form along with art/poem entry by 21st February 2025.

Submission Consent

I hereby grant, transfer and assign to Waratah-Wynyard Council all my rights and interest in the entry I have submitted. I acknowledge that this includes the right to use, reuse, publish, republish and otherwise use and display the artwork, and also includes the right to transfer the rights to a third party. I authorise for Waratah-Wynyard Council to include the artist’s name, image, quote, age, location, to identify the work. I hereby release and discharge Waratah-Wynyard Council from any and all claims and demands arising out of, or in connection with the use of the original artwork, including without limitations any and all claims for libel or invasion of privacy. I have read and fully understand the foregoing and fully consent to it. I , being the parent/guardian of the above named minor, herby consent to and join in the foregoing release and consent on said minor.
