How to do Business with Council

In all purchasing decisions, the Waratah-Wynyard Council is committed to achieving best value - to improve services and outcomes for the people of the Waratah-Wynyard Municipality.

Council adopted its Procurement Policy on 20 December 2004. This Policy provides clear direction to management, staff and councillors in relation to the purchasing function of Council.

Code for Procurement, Tenders and Contracts Policy

As per Council's Procurement Policy:

• Council will usually call for tenders for the supply of goods, the provision of services, or the carrying out of works in circumstances where the level of estimated gross value of expenditure exceeds $50,000. Tenders may not be called where the following circumstances apply:
• • An emergency situation has arisen
  • Where the timeframe does not allow it
  • Where the costs of undertaking the competitive process would outweigh any potential benefits.

Council's Contract Register is provided in an attempt to promote market competitiveness - to give potential tenderers warning as to when existing contracts are due to expire.

• Where the gross value of expenditure is between $10,000 and $50,000 procurement staff shall action to obtain at least two written quotes before selecting a supplier.

• Where the estimated gross value of expenditure is less than $10,000 procurement staff shall obtain prices from appropriate suppliers.
