Inglis River Walking Track

The Inglis River Walking Track is a valued asset of the Waratah-Wynyard community and meanders through the picturesque riparian reserve. Over time, several structures have been developed to support its use and growing popularity. However, a lot of these structures are due for replacement within the next five years.

Cam River Master Plan

The Cam River Master Plan will provide Council guidance on the infrastructure and landscaping that will ultimately provide the greatest benefit for all users of the reserve area.

Boat Harbour Beach Master Plan

Waratah-Wynyard Council’s Boat Harbour Beach Master Plan provides a unifying vision for the area focusing particularly on the management of public spaces around the beach area and the provision of supporting infrastructure and development.

Coastal Pathway Project: Wynyard to Burnie

In 2009, Waratah-Wynyard Council and other North-West councils, initiated the North West Coastal Pathway Project. The plan was released in 2010 and produced in conjunction with Safer Roads for Cyclists Tasmania, and the Tasmanian State Government.

Yolla Public Toilet

Council has received community feedback suggesting that a public toilet is desired within Yolla. The closest public toilet to Yolla is within the Somerset CBD which is approximately 17 minutes’ drive by car. If travelling south past Yolla, the next closest toilet is another 27 minutes’ drive and located at the Hellyer Gorge Rest Stop. This means that at a minimum, travellers heading south from Somerset will need to travel at least 44 minutes before reaching a toilet, depending on the route chosen.

Wynyard Sports Precinct

Waratah-Wynyard Council adopted an Open Space, Sport and Recreation Plan (OSSR) in 2017 and as part of that strategy, a Wynyard Sporting Precinct was proposed. Development of the proposed precinct has progressed through the use of concepts and ideas generated by the OSSR report and from meetings with each of the clubs and key stakeholders within the sports precinct.

The Fossil Bluff and Surrounding Trails Master Plan has been developed with the intent of providing a roadmap for the future development and management of Fossil Bluff Reserve and its surrounding trails.

Flood Mitigation – Port Creek

Flood mitigation works at Port Creek will soon start, with the project being advertised for design and construct tenders this Saturday, June 5.
Port Creek has historically inundated several residents within rainfall conditions.
Based on the risk, it was determined a project to mitigate inundation at Port Creek commence.

The East Wynyard Foreshore Master Plan will set a clear vision for the future management and beautification of the area.

Cardigan Street Recreation Ground Upgrades

Works are planned to improve the Cardigan Street Recreation Ground by realigning the pitch, extending underground irrigation and renewing the goals and perimeter ball-catching fences.

ANZAC Park all-abilities playground

Local charitable organisation The Fairy Godmothers, in partnership with the Waratah-Wynyard Council, has secured funding to construct a destination play-space that will realise the vision for a park that is fun, inclusive and accessible for everyone.
