Community Advisory Panel

Waratah-Wynyard's Community Advisory Panel is just one of the ways the Waratah-Wynyard community can participate in the Council’s strategic, policy and decision making processes. The Community Advisory Panel will have broad representation from business operators, property owners, residents, workers, visitors, students and regional stakeholders

Members of the Community Advisory Panel will help Council make important decisions about key matters for the municipal area by taking part in surveys, questionnaires, online polls, workshops, focus groups, public meetings, forums and consultations.  The issues about which we will be seeking their views may be very specific, that is, around a single issue or very broad and strategic in nature.

We will be seeking to engage participants either as randomly selected groups representative of the broader community or in accordance with their particular experience, knowledge and interests.   Participation will be voluntary and based on their availability.

Members will ensure that the voice of the community is heard and will help Council to understand community views on particular issues. The Community Advisory Panel will be a diverse group who help represent the people of the Waratah-Wynyard Municipal Area by having their say about issues affecting our community.

The Community Advisory Panel will not be a formal decision-making body, but rather a source of information and advice which will assist Council to better understand the community's needs and wants, and plan for the future.

Members can be involved as little or as much as they like. There are no minimum engagement requirements: the Community Advisory Panel will be an “opt-in” process.

People will be eligible to become a member of the Waratah-Wynyard Community’ Panel if they fall into any one or more of the following categories:

Elected members and employees of Waratah-Wynyard Council are not eligible to be a member of the panel

Any views expressed will be collated with those of other panel participants and not individually identified.
