Council to consider rezoning areas

Waratah-Wynyard Council will discuss the potential rezoning of three rural areas at its next ordinary Council meeting to be held on 15 May 2017.

Waratah-Wynyard Council will discuss the potential rezoning of three rural areas at its next ordinary Council meeting to be held on 15 May 2017.

A report has been prepared for Council recommending the rezoning of properties at Aldersons Road, Calder Road and Pages Road from Rural Resource to Rural Living.

The three sites were identified to progress to a planning scheme amendment through workshops with councillors, professional reports and assessment against State, regional and local planning.

Mayor Robby Walsh said the rezonings focused on ensuring the correct zone was applied to these sites.
“This is the first step of the process to have the land rezoned,” Mayor Walsh said.

“Completing simple development applications in Rural Resource zones has proved difficult in the past, but the amendment seeks to make that process easier.”

Should the proposal be initiated, a 28-day consultation process will follow during which representations can be made.

A copy of the complete report, including the recommendation to Council, can be viewed below, or at the Council offices upon request.
