Waratah-Wynyard Flood Relief - Recovery Assistance

Unprecedented rainfall on the 5th and 6th June caused water to flood or inundate a number of properties in and around Wynyard. Substantial damage has occurred and loss of property, not to mention personal disruption and relocation to alternative accommodation.
Farmers have also lost stock, fodder, fencing and buildings. I would like to draw your attention to the following assistance.
The Salvation Army have grants available of $500 an adult and $125 a child to assist anyone in our area impacted by flooding. Recognising that it may be difficult for people to travel to Burnie, Jo a representative from the Salvation Army will be in Wynyard at the Council Chambers on Wednesday 15th June in the afternoon. Please call our reception on 6443 8333 to organise a time to meet with her.
The State Government has grants of $750/family, $200/adult and $100 per child available. Call the Children’s and Youth Services team on 1300 737 639.
Rural Relief Fund: Farmers can access $2,500 for household and other immediate expenses. Please call Rural Business Tasmania on 1300 88 3276. Web address is www.ruralbusinesstasmania.org.au. The Yolla Producers Co-Op is handling fodder donations for redistribution to farmers who have lost their own.
